Terms of Service
Plain-language terms for using Snap-a-Slip. Read these carefully. By using the service you agree to them. If something feels unclear, email us at luke@atab.ai and we'll explain.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Atab (Pty) Ltd ("Atab", "we", "us"), trading as Snap-a-Slip. They govern your use of the Snap-a-Slip product, the WhatsApp interface, and the web app at app.snapaslip.co.za.
1. Acceptance
By starting a chat with Snap-a-Slip on WhatsApp, signing in to the web app, or paying for a subscription, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. The service
Snap-a-Slip is a receipt-capture and expense-tracking tool. You send us photos of receipts via WhatsApp. We extract the data, categorise it, and store it. You can review, correct, and export the data via WhatsApp text commands or the web app.
3. Your account
Your account is keyed to your WhatsApp phone number. You're responsible for keeping that number under your control. If you lose access to the number, contact us so we can confirm identity and migrate your data.
4. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Send content that is illegal, abusive, or violates third-party rights.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to disrupt the service.
- Use the service to commit fraud (for example, submitting fabricated receipts).
- Resell or sublicense the service without our written permission.
We can suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules.
5. Subscriptions and billing
Free tier covers your first 15 receipts a month. Paid tiers (Pro, Business, Enterprise) bill monthly via PayFast. Prices on the pricing page are in South African Rand and include VAT.
You authorise PayFast to charge your nominated payment method on the same day each month until you cancel. Failed payments are retried twice; if the third attempt fails, the account moves to free-tier limits.
6. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel anytime by typing "cancel" in WhatsApp or via the web app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing month. You keep access until then.
Refunds are available within 14 days of your first paid month. After that, no refunds, but you can cancel future billing at any time.
7. Intellectual property
The Snap-a-Slip name, brand, software, and design are owned by Atab. Your receipts and the data extracted from them remain yours. You grant us a limited licence to process this data so we can:
- provide the service (extract, categorise, store, and export it on your instruction);
- improve the accuracy and reliability of the service;
- produce aggregated, anonymised market insights, which we may share with retailers and brand-research partners. These insights contain no information that could identify you, and you can opt out in your account settings, as described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Warranties and limitations
The service is provided "as is". We try to make extraction accurate, but no AI is perfect. Review your receipts before relying on them for tax filings. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
9. Changes to the service
We may add, change, or retire features. If a change materially reduces what you pay for, we'll give you 30 days' notice and a pro-rated refund if you cancel.
10. Termination
You can stop using the service at any time. We can terminate accounts that breach these Terms or are dormant for more than 12 months on the free tier (with 30 days' notice). On termination, you can export all your data for 30 days; after that, it's deleted.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by South African law. Disputes are resolved first by good-faith negotiation, then by mediation in Cape Town, then by South African courts (Western Cape Division).
