General

How does Snap-a-Slip actually work?

You message Snap-a-Slip on WhatsApp like you'd message a friend. Send a photo of any receipt. The bot reads the slip, pulls out the amount, date, vendor, and category, then stores it. You get an instant confirmation in the chat.

What kinds of receipts are supported?

Till receipts, fuel slips, parking tickets, restaurant invoices, hotel bills, online order PDFs. Crumpled, crooked, low-light, faded ink. The OCR is tuned for South African vendors and handles most of what you'll throw at it.

Which currencies are supported?

ZAR, USD, EUR, GBP. The bot logs the original currency. When you export for SARS, you can tag an FX rate or use ours.

Accuracy

What if the bot gets something wrong?

Reply to the message with the correction. "Merchant Pick n Pay" or "amount R248.50" or "category fuel" all work. The receipt updates on the spot.

What happens with low-confidence reads?

If the bot can't read a slip cleanly, it flags the receipt as pending review and asks you to confirm. Nothing silently misfiles.

Does it pull line items?

Yes. Groceries with 12 lines, hotel bills with sub-charges, restaurant invoices. Each line is captured and exported.

Pricing and cancellation

What does it cost?

Free for your first 15 receipts a month. Pro is R99/month for unlimited receipts and all exports. Business at R299/month adds team accounts. Practice Partner at R599/month is for accountants serving multiple clients. All prices VAT inclusive.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. No contract, no minimum term. Type "cancel" inside WhatsApp. You keep access until the end of your billing month.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes, within 14 days of your first paid month.

How do I switch tiers?

Type "upgrade pro" or "upgrade business" or "upgrade practice partner" in WhatsApp. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle.

Security and POPIA

Is my data safe?

Yes. Encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). Stored in South African data centres (Cape Town region). Never shared with third parties.

Are you POPIA-compliant?

Yes. Snap-a-Slip is a South African product built for the local regulatory environment. Data residency is in af-south-1. We honour the right of access and right to erasure under POPIA s23 and s24. Read the full Privacy Policy on the privacy page.

Can I delete all my data?

Yes. Type "delete account" in WhatsApp. We confirm, then permanently remove every receipt, image, and personal field within 7 days.

Who processes my data?

Anthropic Claude / OpenAI for receipt extraction, Google Cloud Vision for OCR, Cloudflare R2 for image storage, Meta WhatsApp for the chat surface. Each is a contracted sub-processor under POPIA. Full list on the Privacy page.

Accountants and integrations

Does it work for businesses, not just individuals?

Yes. Many freelancers, sole props, and small businesses use Snap-a-Slip. Business and Practice Partner tiers add team accounts and multi-workspace support for accountants.

Which accounting software do you export to?

Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, plus generic CSV and Excel. PDF for human-readable monthly reports.

Can my accountant get access?

Yes. Practice Partner tier lets an accountant manage multiple client workspaces from a single number. Each client retains ownership of their own data.

When things go wrong

What if WhatsApp goes down?

Receipts queue locally on your phone via WhatsApp's send queue. Once WhatsApp reconnects, they process. Nothing gets lost.

What if a receipt fails to process?

The bot replies with a clear error and asks you to retry or send a clearer photo. Your receipt allowance isn't consumed for failed reads.

What's your uptime?

We track uptime publicly. Status link in the footer (coming soon).
